A group of Des Moines parents of children with cancer is responsible for bringing the CureSearch Walk to Conquer Kids' Cancer in Des Moines.
The CureSearch Walk to Conquer Kids' Cancer is a pledge walk that unites people in the fight to reach the day when every child with cancer can be guaranteed a cure. Its goals are to increase awareness of childhood cancer and the critical need for research and to raise the revenue needed to support the Children's Oncology Group’s (COG) collaborative research network at work in member institutions from coast to coast.
All proceeds will go to CureSearch to support lifesaving research conducted by the COG, the world’s largest pediatric cancer research organization.
Why is a Cure for Childhood Cancer So Important?
Every school day 46 young people or two classrooms of students are diagnosed with cancer in this country and more than 40,000 young people are currently in treatment. Once considered nearly incurable, through research, 78% of patients overall survive today. Despite this amazing progress, cancer still claims the lives of one in four infants, children, and young adults diagnosed.
By joining a team, you will be helping to find a cure for childhood cancer.Think about the ways that childhood cancer has impacted those around you. By participating in this event, you are helping to raise money for childhood cancer research so kids with childhood cancer are able to reach their dreams.
We need your support, so please do anything you can, join a team, register as an individual or make a donation to on my behalf.

Transplant for Trae
I’m Trae Jacob Hamilton and I was born on October 18th, 2007 at which time my doctors found that I have an extremely rare kidney disease so in February 2009 I will be having a Kidney Transplant. My doctors will be taking both of my kidneys out and giving me a new one that will be donated by my dad.
Transplant for Trae is a fund raiser to help off-set all the medical bills and travel associated with this major surgery.
Thanks to our friends at Irwin’s Bike and Sports, the Iowa Chops Hockey team and Kum and Go there are a couple of ways you can contribute to this event.
Purchase tickets to the March 21st, 2009 Iowa Chops hockey game, which will include admission to a adult league benefit game, as well as the Iowa Chops vs. Quad City Flames. Throughout both games there will be lots of autographed memorabilia up for grabs in a silent auction. Tickets for this event can be purchased at Irwin’s Bike and Sports (ask for Bill).
Purchase a discount coupon book to Kum and Go and receive over $50.00 in savings for a donation of $10.00 each.
Make a monetary donation at any Bank of the West location.
Also, make sure to check out www.babytrae.com for updates.
Thanks for any assistance that you can provide
